Cabarete is a sun-kissed surf paradise, a meeting ground and a haven for water sports enthusiasts, people who strive to become one with the ocean, and those who just love being around high energy action sports.

Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding (or kitesurfing) has taken root in this quaint Caribbean village, and many argue that Cabarete is indeed the kiteboarding capital of the world. On a typical windy day the main beach is colorful and alive with dozens of brightly colored kites a joy to watch, and even more fun to try!

With the ideal combination of steady winds, warm waters and the tropical sunshine Cabarete is also one of the best places in the world to learn this hot new sport. Itís a perfect way to enjoy a vacation, but be warned, kitesurfing is highly addictive and has drastically changed many lifestyles

Windsurfing

But that is just the latest in the water sports that made Cabarete famous. Windsurfing has been a staple here for the past 20 years, and is still going strong. This, along with the newest wind sport in the bay, Laser Sailing, can be enjoyed from one of the local centers in town, and after a great day sailing itís time to kick back at the local beach bar for a sunset cocktail and share some stories with the friendly fellow sailors.

Surfing, board riding on the gentle waves, is also possible with a nice beginner/intermediate surf beach just 5 miles to the West of Cabarete.

With so many great sports to enjoy itís a good thing that the days are long!
